The truth is, it was a happy accident. I was spending quite a bit of time and money in Second Life, so I joked in a chat that I needed virtual employment. A Linden, an employee of Linden Lab, creator of Second Life, happened to be in the chat and said that his alt may have a job for me.

When I met with the alt, BuhBuhCuh Fairchild, in-world, he asked me if I’d heard of machinima before. Then he explained that he’d been so busy that he hadn’t had the chance to make any videos lately. That’s where I would come in. I was to promote and educate about machinima to the residents of SL. Through my efforts, as well as others, the machinima movement really took off.

While I was busy explaining how to make machinima, it occurred to me that I hadn’t even attempted any myself. I made a few silly videos here and there. Within six months, development companies began requesting my assistance in machinima production. That was four and a half years ago, and the rest is history …
